Welcome to beginner Silversmithing!
No previous experience necessary to take the course. Just come join us and learn how to make a ring, bracelet, earrings, pendant or something else you´d love to make in sterling silver, that you get to wear home at the end of the course!!! Many students usually have time to make 2 pieces during the 16 hour course!
During our first course, we will work together designing your own piece of jewelry. I will work individually with each student until they are satisfied with their design, and then I take each student through the different steps needed for just their design. We will all learn each of the steps needed, such as sawing, drilling holes in the silver, hammering, shaping the piece of jewelry and filing.
When your piece is finished we will go through each step of the polishing process, from sandpapering with different coarseness’s of sandpaper, to sanding on the sanding wheel and using different polishing on the polishing wheel until your piece is the desired finish that you prefer.
For those who would like to try their hand at stone setting, I will have different stones available for purchase and we will go through the different steps for setting your stone on your piece of jewelry.
Use of studio tools and equipment are included in the price of the workshop.
SILVER NOT INCLUDED. Purchase of sterling silver is at the daily market rate, and will be available to buy during the workshop. The approximate silver cost for a student is usually between 5 – 60 dollars, depending on how large and thick your piece is.

My style is that of simplicity and elegance with a rich cultural background and influences from living in the U.S., Sweden and Italy, in addition to my graphic design background.
While born and raised in the U.S in a military family, over the course of earning my BFA in Graphic Design, my studies took me to Mullsjö, Sweden.
It was there that I first experienced working with silver. After completing my degree back in the U.S., I enjoyed working for an advertising agency in California, where I met my Swedish husband. For 25 yrs in Sweden I owned a graphic design agency working with both Swedish and American clients.
It was there my passion and appreciation grew in to an apprenticeship and continuous education in silversmithing. In 2009 I began teaching silversmithing courses in Tuscany, Italy. Over the course of 5 years, while living in Florence, I further developed and refined my techniques and style collaborating with Italian silversmiths.
My desire is that the originality of my work reflects the individuality of the person wearing it.
