Why did Charity Wings open an Art & Craft Center? Charity Wings has been working out of a home office for 7 years, and it’s about time we move into an office. But why simply move into an office when we can also create a place for our supporters, community Supporters, and those in need to get away and benefit from CREATIVITY! What is Charity Wings doing with an Art & Craft Center? Free Art Classes for other non-profit organizations and their beneficiaries Open Studio Personal Artist Studios Building a community. A Place for you to Meet Like Minded People Art Classes and Events for the Community Who will benefit from the Art & Craft Center? The Charity Wings Art & Craft Center partners with other nonprofits to provide free art classes to their beneficiaries. Other community supporters are welcome to join us during Open Studio, public classes, and to become a Charity Wings Art & Craft Center Supporters. Artists can also rent our semi private studios. How is the Art & Craft Center be funded? The Art & Craft Center will be funded by (but not limited to):

  • Charity Wings fundraisers and events
  • Art  & Craft Center Supporter program
  • Open studio time
  • Personal artist studios

  • Community support

What kind of art classes does the Art & Craft Center have? Mixed Media, Fine Art, Paper Crafts, Scrapbooking, Jewelry Making, Fiber Arts, Kids Crafting, Art Journaling, Ceramics, Painting and much more. Click HERE to see the class calendar. We are open to all types of arts. Are you an artist and would like to teach for the Charity Wings Art & Craft Center? Click HERE to apply. Who can take free art classes? Free art classes will be available to beneficiaries of other non-profit organizations. What is “Open Studio”? The Charity Wings Art & Craft Center will have Open Studio hours where the Art & Craft Center will be open for anyone to craft. Materials/products are free to use onsite only (no mass production works permitted for profit) Pricing: $5/Hour ($20 Max/Day) for Supporters. $10/Hour for Non-Supporters. Who can come to the Open Studio? Open Studio is open to public, with a small studio fee. You do not have to be a Charity Wings Art & Craft Center Supporter. Can we take art supplies and tools home? You are welcome to take anything you create at the Charity Wings Art & Craft Center home with you! Supplies and Tools remain at the Art & Craft Center for everyone to share and enjoy. Are you going to have private artist studios? Yes. There are private artist studios with neighbor friendly walls available for lease. Who can become a Supporter? Anyone can be become a Charity Wings Art & Craft Center Supporter. Click here to join! What if I’m not local to San Diego? Can I still become a Supporter? Yes, you can still become a supporter. Online Supporters contribute to our great cause and have the benefit of one free manufacturer sponsored class a month! Why does Charity Wings have a Supporters program? The Suppoerters program allows us to build a community opportunity all over the world. We serve as a resource for the Arts & Crafts Community so if you have an organization you want to teach art to, or host a fundraiser or awareness raiser for, we are here to help you! Will Charity Wings continue to fundraise for other non-profits? Yes, Charity Wings will continue to fundraise and raise awareness for other charities, but on a smaller scale. I’m an artist/crafter/designer, how do I get involved? We are looking for experienced instructors to teach classes in all genres of art. If you have teaching experience, we would love your support. Nothing feels better than sharing your creative gift with someone. We ask that teachers teach at least 2 classes (1 for a non-profit group, and 1 to Art & Craft Center patrons). Classes can be taught at the Charity Wings Art & Craft Center or from your home/studio via Skype/Google Hangout technology.

Teaching classes to different non-profit groups:

  • Your role would be to design and teach classes with supplies that we have or are able to get donated.
  • This can be in person at the Charity Wings Art & Craft Center or at another non-profit organization.
  • Charity Wings will coordinate and schedule your class.
  • There is a great feeling that come from doing art with people who can really benefit from creating!

Current teachers are volunteering their time, however we hope that the Art & Craft Center will allow us to pay teachers in the near future. Click HERE to apply to be a teacher. I’m a manufacturer/craft supply store, how do I get involved? We are taking donations of arts and crafts supplies for the new Art & Craft Center. Many companies have expressed an interest in sending out dated stock, overstock, etc. What a perfect match! We are grateful to take any donation and turn it into artsy smiles!   • #1, most important and easy to do: Spread the word about the Charity Wings Art & Craft Center!
  • Man the ship: We need volunteers to staff the Charity Wings Art & Craft Center. This means, give tours to new Supporters and visitors help people with their projects, explain how to use tools, etc.
  • Host a group: such as a knitting group, scrapbooking group, painting group etc. We love creating with friends. The Charity Wings Art & Craft Center will provide a space for you to do this!
  • Help with day to day operations: Admin, class and event planning, marketing, bookkeeping, website maintenance and more! We are always looking for dedicated reliable volunteers!
