Handmade Holidays 2014 Hop Logo

Welcome to the final day of the 4th Annual Handmade Holidays Blog Hop! We hope you enjoyed the projects from the last 2 days! A few years ago we were looking online for handmade gift ideas and thought it would be great if there was a resource dedicated JUST to handmade gift ideas. Enter the Handmade Holidays hop! We’ve gathered over 100 of our creative blogger friends in the craft industry as well as some of our fellow product manufacturers to bring you a plethora of inspiring gift ideas you can make now to give to your friends, family, and colleagues. Pin and bookmark these ideas for this holiday season and to use throughout the year! Each day of the hop features approximately 30 gift projects and you can “hop” from one blog to another to check them all out.

Charity Wings Founder, Elena Lai Etcheverry has joined the Handmade Holidays blog hop! We are happy to share her project “Wire Wing Pendant” with ICE Resin and a cute air dry clay heart and key charm.

2014-11-09 10.07.47-1

Supply list:

Art Mechanique 18 gauge copper wire
ICE Resin
Needle nose pliers
Flat Nose Pliers
Wire Cutters
Key charm
Air Dry Clay
Faber Castell Gelatos

Grab desired size ball of air dry clay and shape into a heart.

Use your round nose pliers to wire free form a wing and eye pin from 18 gauge wire. poke the wing and eye pin into the still wet heart and let dry according to manufacturer instructions.

(After the heart was dry, I cracked mine because I believe that everyone’s heart has scars but that time heals all wounds. 🙂

Paint the dry clay heart with Gelato color of your choice.  Gelatos are very easy to use.  Just smear some on and use a little bit of water on your paint brush or finger to set it into the clay.

Place packing tape on the back of the entire piece.  Burnish well using your fingers.

Mix ICE Resin according to manufacturers direction and drip into wing. I embedded a key charm into the resin for a little extra touch. Let resin dry for eight to 10 hours.

When the resin is dry, carefully peel packing tape from the piece and cut and file any excess resin if there is any.

Add chain to make a necklace or place onto key ring for a cute handmade gift.
